Where I go, for the inspiration...

This morning, I had an opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with Kell Zubic:

Chip

got to be a macho man

7:59am

Kell

got to. not on a boat by the way, may go to work as supply chain manager of a rig repair shipyard down in galveston. you teaching yet?

8:00am

Chip

no, the long term sub job starts around the first of april, until the end of the semester (may 22nd)

i'm miserable!

8:02am

Kell

i know the feeling. my domestic engineering days are screaching to a halt. i couldnt find anything to do yesterday, so i ripped up the perfectly good caulk in the master bath and put new in.

8:03am

Chip

ha ha ha! yeah, i can't tell you the number of times I've looked at our guest bedroom and thought "...green...nah, that blue looks nice, wait, maroon! no, anna'd be mad...blue's fine, really, it's fine..."

8:05am

Kell

i made a standard grocery list with our everyday staples sorted by pantry, freezer, and fridge. even had a write in section for the occasional oddities. then had it laminated so that you can check the box when it needs to be replaced.

8:06am

Chip

I've got a two headed cow...

oops, not really...you win

8:07am

Kell

well, i am actually doing baseboards today and then going to walk down and catch the metro to go and pick up the tahoe. she had an alignment. have a good one.

8:08am

Chip

you too, pal...talk to ya soon...can i publish this conversation?

8:09am

Kell

8:09am

Chip

yahoo account

8:10am

Kell

8:10am

Chip

The Shoulder Bone's connected to the...

Dear Kell, Hope things are going well! From the looks of it, you're on a boat with steel toes, a hard hat, and brass balls...this is just what i gather, but nonetheless that must be nice! I've had a good week overall. I've managed to tear a sheath on a tendon in my right shoulder, you know, the one I punch people with, and so I've been having to nurse it for the last two weeks or so. It's starting to feel better, but now my non-punching shoulder is hurting and i reckon that is from having to over-compensate...I guess there comes a time when we all have to do that...anywho, I'm looking forward to St. Patrick's Day, and all of the festivities planned to go along with it...the green poo and all. Hope you and Fiona have a good weekend! Your Friend, David Hodo (figure that one out)

Letter explaining my absence of absinthe...

Dear Kell, I'm sorry I've not written to you since the 18th. I've actually been drunk these last two weeks. I hope all has been well. I'd have really liked to have gotten a picture with you while you and Fiona were on the gulf coast, but I'm afraid I'd left my camera at the zoo. I intend on continuing the letters, but times have been rough the last few weeks. We found out that our grass has weeds, and that the privacy fence, intended to keep our privacy, has been in fact, telling all of our secrets to the neighbors...I'm afraid the only thing that's been able to shake my soul has been the whiskey...things are better now...things will continue as planned. Week Ending Feb. 15th, 2009

Dear Kell, I guess all of my other letters got lost in the mail...I feel you deserve an update on things that have been happening in my life over the last week. Not a whole lot is really worth mentioning, but basically, the radio on my boat shorted out last week sometime, so I had to order another one. I had some lunch with our friend Sonny, a couple of times, as well as with Ryan McRee. Boy that guy never does get old! So on Friday, it started raining and it wasn't gonna stop. We'd planned, on Thursday, to go to Destin for the weekend, so pulling out of town friday afternoon, we hoped surely for sunnier skies...that was certainly not the case, as it rained on us in Destin just about until we left on Sunday. On the way home, Anna and I stopped in at the Marble Slab...I've got a picture for the rest of that story...anywho, all is well here! I don't do Spanish so I'm not sure what that says down there, but could it be something about a new house? Your Friend, Mr. Baskin Robbin

I've failed him...but for good reason, I swear!

Dear Kell, I've failed you...I was supposed to be writing to you this whole week, but I was out of town and I didn't have Bernie Mac with me. I went to Pensacola on Tuesday to work at Wes Dannreuther's new store, Intracoastal Outfitters, and we worked like the devil trying to get some slat-board on the walls at that place. We managed to finish up with that and on Wednesday afternoon I headed on home, just in time to go to a wake in Moss Point. It was a friend of ours' dad that passed away, so I wanted to go and offer my condolences. After that, I had some dinner with my mum and wife, and then went home for a long winters nap, mainly because I was tired. Thursday night was pretty uneventful, went over to Mobile and had some BBQ at Dreamland, and woke up Friday morning to greet the weekend. Friday night, we went to ye old downtown jazz club for some drinks...then Saturday, Anna and I went on a long boat ride with some other friends, and ended up back at ye old downtown jazz club, but not before we went to Preservation Grill to tell a horrowing tale! Whatever it is, A-Rod is a great fraud of a player, and right now, as much as I love the game, MLB as got some serious soul searching to do...Your Friend, Bart Giamatti
